2024's 'Worst of the Woke' Awards Highlight Cultural Battles

Several prominent organizations across business, education, entertainment, and sports have been singled out for their perceived embrace of 'woke' ideologies by the New Tolerance Campaign (NTC). This watchdog group, which monitors what it deems as "intolerance, double-standards, and phony tolerance," recently revealed the winners of its annual 'Worst of the Woke' awards.

NTC President Gregory T. Angelo emphasized the significance of holding these influential brands and institutions accountable for their cultural impact. He stressed the importance of public pushback against trends like radical gender ideology and divisive DEI initiatives, advocating for open criticism and mockery of these practices.

Among the awardees were Mattel, for its gender-neutral doll line; Harley Davidson, for CEO Jochen Zeitz's controversial comments and subsequent reversal of DEI policies; and Jaguar, for an advertisement featuring androgynous models that omitted any display of its vehicles. The cancelled Disney+ show "The Acolyte" also received an award for its perceived overemphasis on DEI themes, with criticism directed towards its portrayal of an all-lesbian coven and its focus on race and pronouns.

In the realm of education, Columbia University was recognized for anti-Israel unrest and the cancellation of its commencement ceremony, while Harvard University was cited for its reaction to Donald Trump's presidential victory. Super Bowl LVIII and the Paris Olympics also drew attention, the former for its inclusion of the 'Black National Anthem,' and the latter for its opening ceremony featuring a drag queen portrayal of 'The Last Supper.'

Conversely, the NTC awarded conservative activist Robby Starbuck the title of '2024 Champion of Tolerance' for his efforts to expose DEI programs in corporate America and encourage companies to reconsider their policies. Starbuck expressed gratitude for the award and emphasized the collective effort involved in promoting change within corporate environments.
