Concluding his eight-year tenure as New Hampshire's governor, Republican Chris Sununu recently departed office with remarkably high approval ratings. In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital on his last full day, Sununu attributed his success to his team, emphasizing the importance of surrounding oneself with capable individuals to achieve effective governance.
Reflecting on his time in office, Sununu expressed pride in the state's progress, stating his goal was always to "leave it better than [he] found it." He stressed the importance of results-driven leadership, regardless of political climate or challenges faced.

His successor, Republican Kelly Ayotte, echoed this sentiment, praising Sununu's leadership and promising to continue his agenda. However, longtime Democratic Party chair Ray Buckely offered a contrasting perspective, citing "years of failed Republican policies" under Sununu's leadership.
Looking ahead, Sununu reiterated his intention to return to the private sector, potentially exploring opportunities in private equity or serving on corporate boards. While he has repeatedly dismissed the possibility of a Senate run in 2026, he hasn't entirely ruled out a future return to politics, acknowledging he may consider it "way down the road."

Sununu also expressed interest in pursuing a media role, revealing ongoing discussions with several networks. He emphasized his desire to remain politically active, even if not as an elected official, by contributing to the Republican Party and offering his perspective on current events.

Despite past criticisms of President-elect Trump, Sununu expressed optimism about the Republican Party's future under Trump's leadership. He praised Trump's performance in the initial months following the election, specifically mentioning the DOGE initiative. While acknowledging the party's diverse viewpoints, Sununu believes it is growing and that Trump's leadership, alongside other prominent figures like JD Vance, will contribute to its continued success.
