A Pennsylvania couple's peaceful afternoon took a dramatic turn when their dog, Tucker, led them straight to escaped murder suspect Michael Burham. Cynthia and Ron Ecklund were relaxing on their patio when Tucker suddenly started barking and ran towards their creek, refusing to return when called. Unconcerned at first, the couple hopped on their golf cart to retrieve their pet, expecting to find him playing with a fisherman as usual.
Instead, they found a shirtless man in rolled-up pants, whom they instantly recognized as Burham. He claimed to be "camping." Aware of reports that Burham might be armed, the Ecklunds quickly retreated and called 911. They hadn't even reached their house before they had emergency services on the phone.
Burham, 34, had escaped from the Warren County jail nine days prior, allegedly using gym equipment to reach the roof and bed sheets to descend. He was the prime suspect in the shooting death of Kala Hodgkin in Jamestown, New York, and was also accused of arson and kidnapping. Following the Ecklunds' call, authorities quickly apprehended Burham. As for Tucker, the heroic canine is being rewarded with a well-deserved steak dinner.
