Crenshaw's Playful Jab at Referees After GOP Soccer Victory

Following a resounding 4-2 victory against the Democrats in the 9th Annual Congressional Soccer Match, Texas Republican Representative Dan Crenshaw injected some humor into the post-game celebrations. With the GOP team hoisting the trophy at Audi Field in Washington, D.C., Crenshaw lightheartedly teased the referees about their officiating. A video captured by PunchBowl News shows Crenshaw playfully suggesting his glass eye as an aid for the referees, quipping, "The refs have two eyeballs, but they don’t use them, so I’m just going to give them one of mine." He then dramatically, yet jokingly, dropped his glass eye into the trophy, eliciting a mix of amusement and mock-disgust from his teammates. Crenshaw, a former Navy SEAL, lost his right eye due to an IED during his deployment in Afghanistan and has since worn an eyepatch. The Congressional Soccer Match, co-hosted by the Congressional Soccer Caucus and the U.S. Soccer Foundation, raises funds for youth programs promoting healthy lifestyles in underserved communities.
