Deion Sanders Expresses Interest in Raiders' Head Coaching Vacancy

Multiple NFL head coaching positions are currently available, and it appears Deion Sanders has a strong interest in one team in particular. According to reports from the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Colorado Buffaloes coach is eyeing the vacant Raiders head coaching job.

Sources close to Sanders have reportedly contacted the Raiders to express his interest. This development comes after the Raiders dismissed head coach Antonio Pierce following a disappointing 4-13 season, his first full year at the helm. Two days later, general manager Tom Telesco was also let go after just one year with the team.

It has been suggested that Tom Brady, who acquired a 5% ownership stake in the Raiders last year, will play a significant role in selecting the next head coach. Brady and Sanders have a known relationship, adding intrigue to this potential scenario. The Raiders are also in need of a quarterback, and Sanders' son, Shedeur, is considered one of the top two quarterback prospects in the upcoming draft. Some mock drafts even project him as the No. 1 overall pick to the Tennessee Titans.

However, Coach Prime recently stated that there are NFL teams he wouldn't want his son to play for. The father-son duo appeared on Brady's "Let's Go" podcast last year. Sanders has also indicated that he would only consider an NFL coaching position "to coach my sons."

The Hall of Famer arrived at Colorado in 2023 after three seasons at Jackson State. A number of Jackson State players, including his sons and eventual Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter (a potential top-five pick in the upcoming draft), followed him to Boulder.

The Raiders have already interviewed Aaron Glenn, Ben Johnson, and Steve Spagnuolo, and are scheduled to meet with Pete Carroll and Robert Saleh next week. The team currently holds the sixth overall pick in the NFL Draft.
