A Texas homeowner recently shared her unsettling experience with a DoorDash delivery driver who verbally abused her over a tip she considered generous. Lacey Purciful, who has been ordering food via the app while recovering from a car accident, offered a $5 tip on a pizza order, representing 22% of the total cost.
Home surveillance footage captured the incident. After handing Purciful her pizza, the driver remarked, "I just want to say it's a nice house for a $5 tip." Purciful responded with a simple "You're welcome," which was met with a shocking "F*** you" as the driver departed.

Speaking on 'Fox & Friends,' Purciful admitted to being initially taken aback and chuckling, before responding sarcastically. Her four-year-old daughter's presence during the exchange added to the unpleasantness, prompting her to quickly close the door.
Having worked in the food industry herself, Purciful emphasized her history of generous tipping and suggested the driver might have received more had he been polite. Following the incident, her husband contacted DoorDash, and after reviewing the submitted video, the company removed the driver from its platform. Initially, Purciful received a $5 refund, but this was later increased to a $75 credit after DoorDash confirmed the driver's unacceptable behavior.
DoorDash issued a statement to local news outlet WFAA, condemning the driver's actions. While acknowledging that politely inquiring about tips is acceptable, the company stressed that harassment and abuse are never tolerated. They emphasized their commitment to ensuring a safe and respectful experience for all users of their platform – dashers, customers, and merchants alike.
