Former LSU Star Kyren Lacy Faces Negligent Homicide Charge After Fleeing Fatal Car Crash

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of former LSU wide receiver and NFL Draft prospect Kyren Lacy on charges of negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless operation of a vehicle following a fatal car accident in December. Louisiana State Police allege that Lacy was driving recklessly and at high speed on December 17th, crossing the centerline into oncoming traffic in a no-passing zone. This forced the driver of a pickup truck to swerve to avoid a head-on collision with Lacy's vehicle. The maneuver caused a chain reaction, leading the driver of a Kia Cadenza behind the truck to also swerve, resulting in a head-on collision with another vehicle. A passenger in the Cadenza, 78-year-old Herman Hall, later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Police report that Lacy bypassed the accident scene without stopping to provide assistance or contacting emergency services. He also allegedly failed to report his involvement to law enforcement. While Lacy has since been in contact with authorities, the warrant remains active. The former LSU standout had a strong season in 2024, recording 58 receptions for 866 yards and nine touchdowns. He did not participate in LSU's Texas Bowl victory over Baylor on December 31st and declared for the 2025 NFL Draft two days after the accident.
