A Louis Tomlinson concert at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre was abruptly halted Wednesday evening due to a severe hailstorm, resulting in numerous injuries and hospitalizations. Around 80 to 90 concertgoers received on-site medical attention, with seven individuals transported to local hospitals for injuries ranging from cuts to broken bones. Thankfully, none of the injuries were life-threatening.
The West Metro Fire Department confirmed the incident via social media, reporting golf ball-sized hail pelting the outdoor venue. Tomlinson expressed his concern and devastation in a Twitter statement following the incident, sending his love and well wishes to those affected. He praised the swift actions of the first responders and crew, who worked diligently under extreme circumstances.
One concertgoer, Jessica Thompson, recounted the chaotic scene to FOX Weather. She described the sudden onslaught of hail, the scramble for cover, and the lack of prior warning. Thompson and her friends found refuge under a merchandise table, using boxes of t-shirts for protection. She highlighted the distressing cries of those caught in the downpour.
