IRS Whistleblower's Lawyer Contests Weiss' Account of Hunter Biden Investigation

The attorney representing IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley has challenged U.S. Attorney David Weiss's narrative surrounding the Hunter Biden investigation, alleging inconsistencies in Weiss's communications with Congress. Attorney Mark Lytle argued that Weiss's three letters to Congress present conflicting accounts and suggest a deliberate attempt to obscure the facts. He called for Weiss to testify under oath, mirroring the 14 hours of combined testimony already provided by Shapley and another anonymous IRS whistleblower, "Mr. X," to the House Ways and Means Committee.

Lytle highlighted the discrepancies between Weiss's letters, noting that the initial letter implied Weiss possessed full prosecutorial authority, while the second suggested he sought to broaden the investigation beyond Delaware. The latest letter asserts Weiss was never denied the authority to bring charges in any jurisdiction, a claim echoed by the Justice Department. Lytle questioned these shifting explanations, emphasizing the need for Weiss to provide a clear and consistent account.

Lytle further contested Weiss's assertion that he hadn't requested special counsel status, which would have granted him greater autonomy. Weiss claimed he was permitted to bring charges in California and the District of Columbia, but Shapley's testimony indicates Weiss was denied permission to expand the case into D.C. by the U.S. attorney there. Lytle questioned the full sequence of events surrounding this alleged denial, suggesting Weiss hasn't revealed the complete story. A similar scenario reportedly occurred with the U.S. attorney's office in Los Angeles.

Lytle also pointed to Shapley's testimony alleging that an assistant U.S. attorney in Weiss's office discouraged inquiries about President Biden's potential involvement in Hunter Biden's business dealings, specifically references to "the big guy" and "dad." This testimony aligns with claims made by Hunter Biden's former business partner, Tony Bobulinski, regarding a message alluding to a percentage "held by H for the big guy." Lytle's assertions, combined with previous allegations of blocked search warrants on the Biden property in Delaware, raise questions about the scope and direction of the investigation into the president's son.

This ongoing controversy surrounding the Hunter Biden investigation continues to fuel debate and calls for greater transparency.
