Jewell Loyd Seeks Trade from Seattle Storm Following Bullying Investigation

Six-time WNBA All-Star and two-time champion Jewell Loyd has reportedly requested a trade from the Seattle Storm following the conclusion of an internal investigation into bullying allegations she raised against staff members. ESPN reported Loyd's trade request, which comes after the Storm announced the investigation found no violations of team policy by coaches.

The Storm issued a statement acknowledging the allegations and the subsequent independent investigation. They emphasized their commitment to a respectful work environment for all individuals while maintaining confidentiality throughout the investigative process.

The Chicago Sun-Times initially reported the complaint in November. Loyd, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 WNBA Draft, has been a cornerstone of the Storm franchise, achieving Rookie of the Year honors and winning championships in 2018 and 2020. She became a key figure for the team, especially after the departure of Breanna Stewart and Sue Bird's retirement. Loyd's prominence in the league also extends to her appearance in a State Farm commercial during the 2024 season.

Last season, Loyd averaged an impressive 19.7 points and 3.6 assists per game, making her a highly sought-after player in any potential trade scenario. The Storm have seen a series of coaching changes since 2015, with Jenny Boucek, Dan Hughes, Gary Kloppenburg, and Noelle Quinn all holding the head coaching position.

According to the Sun-Times, the allegations of bullying and harassment originated during the 2024 season under Quinn's leadership. Quinn remains the head coach going into the 2025 season.
