Jude Law Reflects on Three Decades in Hollywood, from 'Star Wars' to Past Regrets

For nearly 30 years, Jude Law has been a prominent figure in Hollywood. In a recent interview, the 51-year-old actor, currently starring in Disney+'s "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew," discussed the unpredictable nature of the entertainment industry and his approach to career choices.

Law shared his philosophy on regrets, stating, "I don't think you can spend your time looking back on life like that. You live and you learn. Being in a creative field means constant learning, because you're constantly working on diverse projects with different people, each with unique goals." He emphasized the importance of adaptability, transitioning from independent films to large franchises like "Star Wars," each presenting distinct challenges.

Law acknowledged a past misstep with the 2004 film "Alfie," which he described as a "bad move" in a GQ Magazine UK interview. He felt the film didn't live up to its potential, attributing the failure to excessive budget and his own inflated salary at the time. However, he views the experience as a valuable lesson. "It didn't quite hit the note I hoped it would," he admitted, emphasizing his positive experience on set and the knowledge gained.

His latest role is Jod Na Nawood in "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew," a Force-user and potential Jedi. Law was drawn to the project's fresh perspective on the beloved universe and the connection to the youthful wonder of the original films. He found his character, with his complex and contradictory nature, particularly compelling. The series follows a group of children lost in a dangerous galaxy, embarking on an adventure to find their way home.

Despite his public persona, Law values his privacy. He revealed in the GQ interview that significant aspects of his life remain unknown to the public. He expressed frustration with persistent perceptions based on past narratives, hoping his work speaks for itself. He credits his wife, Phil, a psychologist, for her significant influence and support, providing him with a sense of happiness and security.
