Mike Ditka's Wife Clarifies Health Status Amidst Rumors

Recent online speculation about legendary Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka's health prompted his wife, Diana, to address the rumors. Diana Ditka confirmed to the Chicago Sun-Times that her 85-year-old husband is not in hospice care, contrary to social media claims. Ditka has faced health challenges in the past, including a heart attack in 2018. After residing in Florida for a few years following the closure of their Chicago restaurant in 2020, the Ditkas have returned to their Chicago roots, expressing joy at being back home. While acknowledging that her husband has caretakers and experiences occasional memory lapses, Diana emphasized his well-being. Ditka's legacy includes leading the 1985 Bears to a Super Bowl victory with a historically dominant defense. His coaching career spanned from 1982 to 1992 with the Bears, following six seasons as a player for the team in the 1960s. He also coached the New Orleans Saints and played for the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys. Beyond coaching, Ditka achieved broadcasting prominence with ESPN and became the first tight end inducted into the Hall of Fame.
