President Biden Undergoes Root Canal, Vice President Harris Fills in for College Athlete Day

President Biden is currently undergoing a multi-day root canal procedure, causing him to reschedule some appearances, including a College Athlete Day event at the White House. According to a memo from his physician, Dr. Kevin O'Connor, the President began the procedure on Sunday after experiencing discomfort in a lower right premolar. The initial phase was completed without complications, but further treatment was required Monday, leading to Vice President Kamala Harris stepping in to host the collegiate athletic event.

The White House indicated that the President's schedule may see additional adjustments this week as he completes the procedure. The College Athlete Day celebration will honor the men's and women's NCAA championship teams from the 2022-2023 season.

This dental procedure marks the first significant health-related event for President Biden since his February health assessment, which declared him "vigorous" and "healthy." That evaluation, however, did not encompass any cognitive testing.
