During a FIBA Basketball Champions League match between Israel's Hapoel Holon and France's Nanterre 92, approximately ten individuals disrupted the game by running onto the court waving Palestinian flags. This incident, which occurred in the third quarter, led to chaos in the stands, particularly among the French Jewish community supporting the Israeli team.
Several of the protestors entered the spectator area but were swiftly apprehended by security. Concurrently, pro-Israel spectators responded with nationalist chants. The game was temporarily suspended while police detained the disruptors. Upon resumption, security measures were intensified, including the deployment of officers with shields to separate different fan groups.
Earlier, the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs had issued a warning about potential disruptions, noting anticipated protests near the arena by groups such as Europalestine and La France Insoumise. Nanterre's mayor had attempted to ban spectators to prevent disturbances, but a court overturned this decision.
Despite the disruption and a final score of 87-77 in favor of Nanterre, Hapoel Holon qualified for the Top 16 stage due to another game's outcome. Yotam Hanochi led Holon's scoring with 18 points, while Paul Lacombe topped Nanterre's with 23.
