Richard Allen, Delphi Murders Suspect, Faces Harsh Jail Conditions as Case Details Emerge

Newly unsealed court documents provide chilling details in the 2017 Delphi murders case, connecting local CVS employee Richard Allen to the deaths of teenagers Liberty German and Abigail Williams. Investigators believe Allen used a sharp object in the killings, which occurred while the girls were hiking on a popular trail.

Allen admitted to being on the Monon High Bridge Trail on the day the girls disappeared. A key piece of evidence is a 43-second video recovered from Libby German's phone, depicting a man in a dark jacket and jeans following the girls and instructing them to go "down the hill." Witness accounts corroborate the description of the man seen in the video.

The discovery of an unspent .40-caliber bullet between the girls' bodies led investigators to believe a firearm was involved. A subsequent search of Allen's residence yielded a matching .40-caliber handgun, along with a blue Carhartt jacket consistent with witness descriptions and the video footage.

Allen's lawyers describe his current jail conditions as akin to those of a "prisoner of war." Meanwhile, the release of these documents, thanks to the efforts of "The Murder Sheet" podcast hosts, provides significant public insight into the ongoing investigation. The hosts emphasized the importance of transparency while acknowledging the need to protect Allen's rights and the privacy of others involved.
