Legendary actor Robert De Niro, recently expanding his family at 79, shared that his older children haven't yet met their new baby sister, Gia Virginia Chen-De Niro. Born in April to De Niro and his partner Tiffany Chen, Gia is the latest addition to a bustling family that includes six older siblings: Drena (51), Raphael (46), twins Julian and Aaron (27), Elliot (24), and Helen Grace (11).
Speaking at the Tribeca Film Festival during a screening of his film "A Bronx Tale," De Niro confirmed the news to People Magazine, simply stating that the introduction "will" happen soon. He also mentioned his Father's Day plans, intending to cherish the time with all his children.
While De Niro's older children await their meeting with Gia, his "A Bronx Tale" co-star Chazz Palminteri has already had the pleasure, describing the newborn as "beautiful." Another co-star, Katharine Narducci, commended De Niro's qualities as a father and person, highlighting his close bond with his daughter Drena.
The announcement of Gia's arrival came as a surprise during an ET Canada interview. De Niro casually corrected the interviewer, clarifying that he had seven children, not six. He later revealed Gia's full name and birthdate (April 6th) on "CBS Mornings," expressing his and Chen's joy at the planned addition to their family.
De Niro and Chen, a martial arts instructor, met on the set of his 2015 film "The Intern" and began their romantic relationship in 2021. Gia is De Niro's child with Chen. His other children are from previous relationships – Drena and Raphael with ex-wife Diahnne Abbott (Drena being adopted by De Niro), twins Julian and Aaron with ex Toukie Smith, and Elliot and Helen Grace with second ex-wife Grace Hightower.
