Texas Teens Plotted Bombing and Shooting at High School, Police Say

Two teenage girls in Montgomery County, Texas, have been apprehended by authorities after allegedly plotting a devastating attack on a local high school. According to law enforcement, the girls, aged 15 and 16, planned to detonate pipe bombs within Memorial High School and subsequently open fire on students.

Spring Branch ISD police revealed that the 16-year-old suspect is a student at the targeted school and was taken into custody approximately 30 minutes after the threat surfaced. The detailed nature of the threats, communicated through social media, led authorities to assess the situation as highly credible and indicative of active planning.

While the identities of the girls remain undisclosed, the 16-year-old faces a felony charge for making a terroristic threat. The FBI Houston office played a crucial role in swiftly identifying and apprehending the suspects before their plan could be carried out. They acknowledged their involvement on X (formerly Twitter), stating that their Threat Mitigation Team collaborated with Houston Police and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation and confirmed that the girls attend different high schools. One of the suspects was already in custody on unrelated charges, while the other was apprehended in Harris County. Authorities have emphasized their commitment to school safety and have implemented additional security measures in response to the incident.

The Sheriff’s Office reassured the community, stating, "The safety and security of our schools and community remain our highest priority. We understand the concerns this situation may cause for students, parents, and faculty, and we are taking every necessary precaution. Additional security measures have been implemented, and we continue to work closely with school officials and our law enforcement partners to ensure a safe environment."
