A new holiday prank is making the rounds on TikTok, causing laughter and a bit of panic among unsuspecting family members. The "Christmas gas" prank involves telling loved ones that you filled your car with festive, green-handled "Christmas gas," leading them to believe you mistakenly used diesel fuel.
One prankster, Hannah Crawford from Stockton, Alabama, decided to try the prank on her husband, Clayton. In a video posted to TikTok, Hannah calls Clayton, feigning distress about her car sputtering after filling up with the only available option: "Christmas gas" from a green pump. Clayton's reaction is a mix of disbelief and concern, initially questioning Hannah's story before realizing the potential consequences of using diesel in a gasoline car. He even threatens to "kill" her and suggests she "total" the car.

Hannah barely contains her laughter as Clayton's panic escalates. He quickly identifies the green handle as diesel and expresses his frustration. While Clayton admits to having suspicions about Hannah's story, he acknowledges her penchant for unexpected antics, saying, "One thing about her is it's never something that's not possible."

The video has garnered numerous comments, with viewers finding humor in Clayton's reaction. Some commenters even compared him to the character Rip from Yellowstone. This "Christmas gas" trend isn't new; it originated in 2023 with videos like Karsen Holloway Ward's, where she pranked her dad with the same gag, accumulating millions of views.

While the prank is lighthearted, Paul Sadosky, owner of Valvoline Express Care, points out the serious implications of actually putting diesel fuel into a gasoline engine. He explains that while the car might initially start, the diesel fuel will eventually cause rough running, smoking, and misfiring. In the worst-case scenario, it could require a new engine, although flushing the lines and replacing the fuel filter might suffice if caught early. Sadosky also notes that putting gasoline into a diesel car is even more detrimental.
