Trump Announces Key Ambassador Nominees and Special Envoy

Former President Trump has revealed several key appointments for his upcoming administration, including ambassadorial nominees and a special envoy for Latin America. He announced these selections via Truth Social.

Callista Gingrich, wife of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, has been nominated for U.S. ambassador to Switzerland. Trump highlighted her prior experience as ambassador to the Holy See during his first term, praising her work on international religious freedom, combating human trafficking, and global humanitarian aid. He also noted her academic achievements, graduating with honors from Luther College.

For the role of special envoy to Latin America, Trump has tapped Mauricio Claver-Carone. Citing "chaos and anarchy" at the southern border, Trump emphasized Claver-Carone's understanding of the region and commitment to prioritizing American interests. He also highlighted the importance of addressing illegal immigration and the fentanyl crisis.

Trump also announced Ken Howery, co-founder of PayPal, as his nominee for U.S. ambassador to Denmark. Howery previously served as ambassador to Sweden, earning Trump's commendation for his service. Trump underscored Howery's experience in tech and venture capital, believing it will be a valuable asset in his new role. He also reiterated his stance on the strategic importance of Greenland.
