Trump's Influence on Israel-Hamas Ceasefire Acknowledged by ABC News Host

ABC News' Martha Raddatz recently appeared on "The View," suggesting that President-elect Trump's involvement played a role in the ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Hamas. Raddatz highlighted the public sentiment in Tel Aviv, with some families of hostages attributing the breakthrough to Trump's efforts.

While acknowledging the Biden administration's contributions, Raddatz pointed to Trump's strong stance, particularly his warning of repercussions if the hostages weren't released before his inauguration. She noted the perceived impact of this message, although the extent of its influence on Hamas remains unclear. Raddatz emphasized the collaborative approach of both administrations, suggesting it contributed significantly to the positive outcome.

President Biden, while celebrating the ceasefire, appeared to dismiss the notion of Trump's significant involvement when questioned by a Fox News correspondent. However, Raddatz reiterated her observation that the incoming Trump administration's efforts had a noticeable effect.

Biden, in his farewell address, highlighted the eight months of negotiations leading to the ceasefire and hostage release, crediting his administration with securing the agreement. However, reports indicate that a meeting between Trump's incoming Middle East envoy and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was crucial to the deal. Despite this, Netanyahu has accused Hamas of backtracking on the agreement and has postponed a Cabinet vote indefinitely.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken anticipates the agreement's implementation on Sunday, emphasizing the role of American leadership and diplomacy in brokering the deal. He outlined the key objectives achieved, including the return of hostages, cessation of hostilities, increased humanitarian aid, and the groundwork for a lasting ceasefire.
