Veteran-Owned Brewery Gains Traction Amidst Shifting Beer Market Dynamics

A veteran-owned and operated brewing company, Armed Forces Brewing Company, is gaining recognition for its dedication to honoring fallen American heroes and first responders. CEO Alan Beal highlighted the company's mission during a recent interview, emphasizing their commitment to producing high-quality American beer that pays tribute to those who have served.

The Virginia-based company boasts a skilled team, including an award-winning brewmaster and a board of veteran advisors. Their diverse selection of beers includes "Special Hops," an IPA dedicated to Navy SEALs, which is quickly becoming their top seller. Another popular choice is "Preamble," a light lager akin to classic domestic beers, which honors the Constitution and the oaths taken by service members. Notably, the hops used in "Preamble" are sourced from a veteran-owned farm in Michigan.

A portion of the proceeds from "Preamble" sales goes to the Heart of the Lion Foundation, a non-profit supporting the physical and mental well-being of veterans and first responders. The company also collaborates with several veteran-focused organizations like the Special Operations Transition Foundation (SOTF), Uncommon Grit Foundation, the Navy SEAL Foundation, and MarineParents.

Armed Forces Brewing Company's products are currently available in eight states and are expected to expand to 17 by the end of the year. Their beers can be found in major retailers such as Walmart, Publix, Winn-Dixie, and Sam's Club, and are also available for purchase online, shipping to 36 states. This growth coincides with a period of significant change in the U.S. beer market. Modelo has recently surpassed Bud Light as the nation's top-selling beer for two consecutive months, following consumer backlash against Bud Light's marketing decisions. This shift has also benefited other brands, like Yuengling, who have launched patriotic campaigns and seen increased sales. The Armed Forces Brewing Company, with its focus on patriotism and supporting veterans, appears well-positioned to capitalize on these evolving consumer preferences.
