During a recent press briefing, White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby declined to comment on a 2017 WhatsApp message allegedly sent by Hunter Biden to a Chinese businessman, which mentioned President Joe Biden. A reporter pressed Kirby on whether the message contradicted the President's past statements about not being involved in his son's business dealings. Kirby refused to address the issue, stating, "I am not going to address this issue from this podium. I'm just not going to do it." He then abruptly ended the briefing.

This incident follows recent testimony from an IRS whistleblower who alleges that Hunter Biden invoked his father's name during business dealings. The whistleblower revealed a WhatsApp exchange where Hunter Biden purportedly told a Chinese business partner he was with his father and would ensure repercussions if certain demands weren't met.

Hunter Biden's lawyer maintains that any actions by Hunter Biden during his struggles with addiction were solely his own and unconnected to his family. The White House Counsel's Office reiterated that President Biden was not involved in his son's business affairs and emphasized the Justice Department's independent handling of criminal investigations.
