Alabama Infant Found Safe After SUV Reported Stolen, Likely Rolled into Brush

A nine-month-old baby girl, Harlow Darby Freeman, was found safe and sound after an SUV she was in was initially reported stolen in Parrish, Alabama. The vehicle, located about 100 yards from where it was last seen, was discovered hidden in thick brush approximately 12 hours after the initial report.

Parrish Police Chief Danny Woodard stated that the vehicle likely rolled down an embankment into the brush when the driver neglected to put it in park, rather than being stolen. While the initial report suggested a kidnapping, investigators now believe this scenario is unlikely. Further investigations and interviews are underway to confirm the details of the incident.

The incident began when Harlow's father briefly left her inside the SUV while visiting a friend's house. When he returned, the vehicle was gone. A large-scale search involving numerous officers ensued late Monday night but yielded no results until the following morning.

Fortunately, one of the SUV's windows was broken, allowing for ventilation throughout the night. Harlow was found dehydrated but otherwise healthy. Chief Woodard described the situation as a "strange turn of events," unusual for the small town of Parrish, located about 40 miles northwest of Birmingham.
