Allen Downplays Media Frenzy Over Diggs' Absence from Bills' Workouts

The recent media storm surrounding Stefon Diggs' absence from mandatory Buffalo Bills workouts has been significantly overblown, according to quarterback Josh Allen. Diggs' initial no-show at the team's activities last month sparked concern and speculation among sports commentators. While coach Sean McDermott expressed his worry, Diggs subsequently addressed the situation with the team, returning to the practice field.

Allen, speaking on Barstool Sports’ "Bussin’ with the Boys" podcast, minimized the incident, emphasizing his strong relationship with Diggs and criticizing the media's exaggerated portrayal. He pointed out that the absence occurred during minicamp, months before the start of the season, and stemmed from discussions between Diggs and the team regarding certain unresolved matters. Allen urged the media to move on from the issue, stating it was unnecessarily amplified.

Diggs' initial absence involved missing team physicals and, although he later arrived at the facility, he did not immediately participate in practice. Allen clarified that the concerns stemmed from unresolved issues from the previous season, including Diggs' desire for greater involvement in offensive strategies. Allen underscored Diggs' importance to the team's success, emphasizing their commitment to resolving the situation together. He reiterated that Diggs is a dedicated Buffalo Bill and aims to avoid distractions.

Since being traded from the Minnesota Vikings to Buffalo before the 2020 season, Diggs has become one of the league's premier receivers. His performance last season, which included a career-high 11 touchdown receptions, earned him his third Pro Bowl selection. This season marks the start of Diggs' new four-year, $96 million contract, further solidifying his position within the team. Despite the recent events, the Buffalo Bills remain a strong contender in the NFL.
