Caitlin Clark Congratulates Fellow Hawkeye Cooper DeJean Despite Chiefs Fandom

Philadelphia Eagles rookie cornerback and Iowa Hawkeye alum, Cooper DeJean, revealed that he received a congratulatory message from fellow Hawkeye and WNBA star Caitlin Clark after his Super Bowl LIX victory. This gesture is notable considering Clark's known affinity for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Clark's Chiefs fandom became public last month when she was seen with Taylor Swift in a suite at Arrowhead Stadium during the Chiefs' divisional playoff game against the Houston Texans. The two celebrated a Travis Kelce touchdown together, solidifying Clark's apparent allegiance to the Chiefs.

Despite her Chiefs loyalty, Clark reached out to DeJean after his impressive Super Bowl performance. "She sent me a nice message congratulating me," DeJean shared on the "Up & Adams Show." He acknowledged her Chiefs fandom with a smile, adding, "That was nice of her, being a Chiefs fan and all."

DeJean, a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, made a significant impact in his rookie season, culminating in a standout Super Bowl performance. On his 22nd birthday, he intercepted a Patrick Mahomes pass for a touchdown, becoming the first player in Super Bowl history to achieve this feat on their birthday.

Reflecting on the play, DeJean said, "I was trying to find the fastest way to the end zone. Luckily, I got some blocks out there. I had to avoid some of those big guys, but it was just our defense working together like we have all year. It fell right into my lap."
