A YES Network and SNY camera operator, Pete Stendel, is recovering at home after suffering an orbital fracture when he was struck by an errant throw during Wednesday night's Yankees game. The incident occurred during a double play attempt by the Baltimore Orioles when Gunnar Henderson's throw sailed high, striking Stendel in the head. Medical personnel quickly attended to Stendel, who remained conscious and communicative. He was stretchered off the field, offering a reassuring peace sign to concerned onlookers. The game was delayed for approximately 15 minutes. Yankees announcer Michael Kay, who described Stendel as a "terrific guy" and "one of the best," reported that Stendel was alert and talking. Manager Aaron Boone expressed his concern, calling the event "scary" and offering prayers for Stendel's recovery. Outfielder Jake Bauers echoed those sentiments, expressing his hope for a swift return. Despite the unsettling incident, Stendel thankfully avoided more severe injuries. The Yankees ultimately lost the game to the Orioles 4-3.
