Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter have been making waves in college football, but their recent performances have solidified their positions as potential top picks in the upcoming NFL draft. Sanders' odds of being the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft are increasing, while Hunter is emerging as a strong Heisman Trophy contender.
These Colorado stars showcased their talents in what might be their final home game, a decisive 52-0 victory against Oklahoma State. Sanders, son of coach Deion Sanders, threw for 438 yards and five touchdowns, three of which were caught by Hunter. While Hunter has confirmed his intention to enter the NFL draft, Deion Sanders has stated that both players will participate in a bowl game if the Buffaloes don't reach the College Football Playoffs, a rare commitment for high-profile draft prospects.
While scouts project Hunter as a cornerback, he has expressed his desire to play on both sides of the ball. His impressive stats this season – 92 receptions, 1,149 yards, and 14 receiving touchdowns, along with a rushing touchdown and strong defensive play – certainly support his ambition.
Sanders, meanwhile, is concluding the regular season with a career-best 3,926 passing yards and 35 touchdowns, completing over 74% of his passes. This performance has attracted attention from NFL teams, including the New York Giants, who currently hold the top draft pick and recently visited Boulder to meet with Sanders.
Despite a recent loss that impacted their College Football Playoff hopes, Colorado still has a chance to reach the Big 12 title game if two out of three teams—BYU, Arizona State, and Iowa State—also lose.
