Following his transfer from Michigan to Kansas, basketball player Hunter Dickinson has been vocal about his experiences in both states. He recently shared his thoughts on the "Rock Chalk Unplugged" podcast, praising the welcoming atmosphere he's found in Kansas. He described the people as "super nice," highlighting a distinct difference from his time in Michigan. While acknowledging that Michigan residents were pleasant, he suggested that Kansas embodied a more genuine Midwestern friendliness, referring to Michigan as a "fake Midwest."

Dickinson expressed his appreciation for his time at Michigan but emphasized the exceptional kindness he's encountered in Kansas. He also discussed the intensity of the offseason practices, admitting they revealed he wasn't in the shape he'd believed himself to be.

During the 2022-23 season with Michigan, Dickinson averaged 18.5 points, 9 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game. He was initially on the Naismith Trophy watch list. Despite his individual performance, the Wolverines finished 18-16, missing the NCAA Tournament. Kansas, on the other hand, held a 28-8 record but exited the tournament in the second round.
