Florida Man Arrested After Allegedly Slashing Neighbor with Knife

A heated argument between neighbors in a Lee County, Florida duplex escalated into a violent altercation on December 28th. 48-year-old Addiel Herrera allegedly attacked his female neighbor with a knife, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office (LCSO). The dispute reportedly began with a comment made about a member of Herrera's family.

The victim attempted to retreat into her home, closing the garage door and locking the entrances, but Herrera persisted, banging on her door. When she opened it, he allegedly forced his way inside and slashed her hand with the knife. The victim managed to push him back out, but Herrera continued the attack, stabbing at the door multiple times.

LCSO deputy approaches Herrera

Responding deputies located Herrera in his garage. Body camera footage released by LCSO shows a deputy repeatedly ordering Herrera in Spanish to come out. Herrera, his hands seemingly covered in blood, eventually complied.

He was subsequently taken down and apprehended. Herrera faces charges of armed burglary with assault and is currently held without bond at the Lee County Jail. The LCSO revealed that Herrera has a prior criminal record, including arrests for battery, resisting arrest, and other violent offenses.

Sheriff Carmine Marceno condemned the violence, stating, "Violence of any kind will NOT be tolerated in Lee County. Not only is he a bad neighbor, but he's a bad resident of Lee County."
