The legal proceedings against Charles Ryan, Arizona's former corrections director, have been delayed until July 13th. Ryan is facing charges related to an incident at his Tempe residence on January 6, 2022, where he allegedly discharged a firearm within the house and subsequently aimed it at police officers during a standoff lasting three hours. The postponement was granted to allow both the prosecution and defense more time to review emerging evidence in the case.

Reports indicate that Ryan sustained an injury to his forehead before police arrived, caused by a porcelain shard from a bathroom sink after he discharged his weapon. He also suffered a hand injury from a police projectile after allegedly pointing a handgun at officers. It's been reported that Ryan had consumed a significant amount of alcohol prior to the incident. Following his eventual surrender, Ryan was transported to a hospital and was not jailed. Authorities confiscated approximately fifteen firearms from his home. Ryan retired from his position in 2019.
