Goo Goo Dolls frontman John Rzeznik has been hospitalized with pneumonia, leading to the postponement of the band's South Africa concert series initially scheduled for December 4-7.
Rzeznik shared the news with fans via a video message from his hospital bed, expressing his sincere apologies for the unexpected cancellation. Dressed in a hospital gown and hat, he explained his diagnosis and assured fans the band is working to reschedule the shows as soon as possible. Updated dates for the end of March 2025 were subsequently announced.

The band also posted a message on Instagram echoing Rzeznik's sentiments and confirming their commitment to returning to South Africa in March 2025. They expressed their disappointment at postponing the shows, emphasizing the importance of the country to them and their eagerness to reconnect with their fans there.

The Goo Goo Dolls achieved widespread recognition with their 1995 hit "Name" and further solidified their success with "Iris" in 1998, featured in the film "City of Angels." The band has since sold millions of albums globally and maintained an active touring schedule. In April 2025, they are slated to perform at the Stagecoach Country Music Festival in Indio, California, alongside artists such as Zach Bryan, Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Ashley McBryde, and Lana Del Rey.
