Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow surprised his offensive line with a unique Christmas gift: samurai swords. Burrow allowed each lineman to select their own sword, some of which reportedly date back to the 16th century. The quarterback's gesture acknowledges the line's improved performance in protecting him this season.
Following a three-touchdown game against the Cleveland Browns, Burrow explained his reasoning for choosing swords over more traditional gifts like cars or watches. He humorously recounted that the linemen initially requested guns, but he steered them towards a different type of "cool weapon." Bengals lineman Alex Cappa praised the gift as one of the best he's ever received, highlighting its originality.
Burrow is enjoying a stellar season, thanks in part to the offensive line's protection. He has been sacked 37 times through 15 games, an improvement over the 41 sacks he endured in 2022. This is a significant decrease from the league-leading 51 sacks he took in 2021, the year the Bengals reached the Super Bowl. Currently, Burrow leads the NFL with 39 touchdown passes and 4,229 passing yards.
With a 7-8 record, the Bengals face the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers in their final two games. Two victories could potentially secure them a playoff berth.
