A Kansas City man initially facing assault charges after a weekend shooting that claimed three lives and injured six others has now been charged with three counts of second-degree murder. Keivon Greene, 26, is suspected of being one of two individuals involved in the early Sunday morning shooting at an auto shop frequently used for after-hours gatherings, according to court documents.
The victims were identified as 28-year-old Jasity J. Strong, 29-year-old Camden M. Brown, and 22-year-old Nikko A. Manning. While six others sustained injuries, authorities have confirmed that none are considered life-threatening.
Greene faces second-degree murder charges for the deaths of Brown and Manning, and second-degree felony murder in connection with Strong's death. Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker explained that although it remains unclear whether Greene fired the fatal shot that killed Strong, his actions initiated the chain of events leading to all three fatalities, holding him accountable for each death. Two counts of armed criminal action have also been added to the charges against Greene, who was initially charged with assault on Monday.

Just days prior to the incident, Greene had posted a $1,000 cash bond following felony charges of resisting arrest and drug possession in Independence, a suburb east of Kansas City. While the investigation into the motive is ongoing, Prosecutor Baker suggests the shooting may have stemmed from a minor disagreement.
Currently, online court records do not list legal representation for Greene.
