Actor Lorenzo Lamas has strongly condemned Los Angeles officials for what he perceives as a "despicable" lack of preparedness in the face of the recent devastating wildfires. The "Falcon Crest" star, currently recovering from hip surgery in Idaho, expressed his anger and frustration over the loss of life and property, emphasizing that better disaster management could have mitigated the catastrophe.
Lamas, who spent his formative years in the Pacific Palisades, voiced concern for his four daughters who reside in Los Angeles, thankfully safe from the fires. He recounted the heartbreaking story of friends, including "Mad Max" actor Vernon Wells and his wife, who lost their home in the Palisades. He believes that with improved administrative planning, the city could have been better equipped to handle the disaster.
While anxiously monitoring news coverage to ensure his childhood home remained safe, Lamas questioned the city's readiness, particularly the insufficient water reserves and inadequate pump pressure to combat the flames. He recalled childhood earthquake drills and contrasted them with the apparent lack of fire preparedness, especially given the predictable seasonal fire risk in Southern California.
The Palisades Fire has consumed over 23,000 acres and resulted in eight fatalities, with thousands of structures damaged or destroyed. The nearby Eaton Fire has caused even more devastation, claiming sixteen lives and impacting over 4,600 buildings.
Despite his concerns over the fires, Lamas shared a positive update on his recent hip replacement surgery and expressed gratitude for the support of his daughter Alexandra during his recovery. He also celebrated his recent first wedding anniversary with wife Kenna Nicole Scott, attributing their strong relationship to communication, forgiveness, and avoiding blame.
