Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett faced significant criticism after publicly opposing former President Donald Trump's executive order prohibiting transgender athletes from competing in women's sports. Crockett's stance, shared on X (formerly Twitter), ignited a heated debate, with many users challenging her assertions and accusing her of misogyny.
Crockett's X post argued that Trump's order doesn't protect women and cited alleged cuts to Title IX grants and removal of references to women on government websites. However, critics countered her claims, arguing that the order simply requires athletes to compete in leagues matching their biological sex to ensure fair competition and protect women's sports. They also disputed the alleged Title IX grant cuts and website changes.

Many users pointed out that Crockett's position contradicts public opinion, citing surveys indicating that most Americans, including a majority of Democrats, oppose transgender women competing in women's sports. A New York Times/Ipsos poll showed 79% of respondents opposed allowing biological males identifying as women to participate in women's sports, including 67% of Democrats. A post-election exit poll by Concerned Women for America further revealed that 70% of moderate voters considered Trump's stance on transgender athletes in sports and bathrooms an important issue.

Crockett's previous comments regarding Texas and Florida as "deplorable" states during a hearing on transgender athletes also resurfaced, adding fuel to the ongoing controversy. During the hearing, she criticized conservative legislation in those states and expressed her disagreement with her Republican colleague, Rep. Glenn Grothman of Wisconsin, and the Heritage Foundation.
