Mahomes Suffers Ankle Injury in Chiefs' Victory Over Browns

The Kansas City Chiefs secured a road win against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, but their victory was overshadowed by an ankle injury to star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes exited the game late in the fourth quarter after suffering a hard hit while attempting a pass on fourth down. Browns defensive lineman Dalvin Tomlinson tackled Mahomes, trapping his ankle underneath him. Simultaneously, Mike Hall Jr. collided with Mahomes above the waist, further exacerbating the injury. The quarterback limped off the field in visible pain.

Post-game, Chiefs coach Andy Reid confirmed Mahomes' right ankle injury, stating that while not broken, it is sore and will require rehabilitation. The team will assess his condition further in the coming days. NFL Network reports indicate Mahomes is currently considered week-to-week pending additional evaluations. X-rays taken after the game were negative. Mahomes' backup, Carson Wentz, finished the game for Kansas City. Despite the injury, Mahomes managed 159 passing yards, completing 19 of 38 attempts, before leaving the game. Xavier Worthy led the Chiefs in receiving with six catches for 46 yards, followed by DeAndre Hopkins with five receptions for 36 yards.
