Michigan Woman's Mysterious Death After Party: Family Seeks Answers

A Michigan family is grappling with the sudden and unexplained death of their 23-year-old daughter, Mia Kanu. Kanu was found critically injured on the side of the road outside the Coach House Apartments in Southfield, a Detroit suburb, in the early morning hours of June 3rd. She tragically passed away several days later.

Kanu's mother, Bianca Vanmeter, expressed the family's anguish and plea for information, stating, "Something happened, and someone knows something, and we desperately need those answers. She wouldn't abandon someone like that. It's just not logical." Surveillance footage appears to show Kanu either falling or being pushed from a moving vehicle.

A passerby discovered Kanu and alerted authorities, who promptly transported her to a local hospital. Police are treating the case with utmost seriousness, stating, "The cause of death remains undetermined at this time, and we are exploring all possibilities, including homicide. We have not released any information suggesting Mia was pushed from a vehicle." The driver of the vehicle involved has been cooperative with the investigation.

Southfield Deputy Police Chief Jeff Jagielski emphasized the importance of determining the circumstances surrounding Kanu's presence at the location, stating, "The key questions are: how did she end up there? Who is she? And why was she there?"

According to reports, charges may be filed against other individuals who were in the vehicle with Kanu. Jagielski added, "We understand there was a dispute between the driver and another person in the apartment complex parking lot before they left. Whenever a seemingly healthy individual dies unexpectedly, we investigate it as a potential homicide until evidence proves otherwise." Kanu, a Tennessee State University student, was home for the summer break at the time of the incident.
