Following some controversy surrounding his participation, rapper Nelly performed at President Trump's Liberty Ball, emphasizing his respect for the presidency. He expressed this sentiment to Fox News Digital, stating, "It was an honor to have performed for the highest office in the greatest nation. We now look to the president to lead and uplift the country."
Prior to his performance, Nelly was greeted by President Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and their families. He also spent time taking photos with military officers and thanking them for their service, a gesture reflecting his personal connection to the military through family members who have served.

Nelly's performance, which included his popular songs like "Ride Wit Me" and "Hot in Herre," began with a rendition of "Hail to the Chief." His dancers initially dressed as Secret Service agents and later donned "USA" hats. Other artists performing at the Liberty Ball included Jason Aldean and Billy Ray Cyrus.
In response to earlier criticism, Nelly reiterated in a conversation with rapper Willie D that his decision to perform was not motivated by money but by respect for the office of the president. He compared his performance to the service of military personnel, who put their lives on the line for the country regardless of who holds the presidency. Nelly stated he would have performed for any president, emphasizing that it was an honor to perform for the highest office in the United States. He also directly addressed critics who labeled President Trump a white supremacist, challenging them to provide evidence for such claims.
Nelly is scheduled to begin his "Where The Party At Tour" in March.
