Following a tragic incident in New Orleans, the University of Notre Dame has requested fans attending the Sugar Bowl to join them in prayer for the victims. A suspected act of terrorism early Wednesday morning resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries, impacting the city as it hosts thousands of college football fans for the playoff quarterfinal game between Notre Dame and the Georgia Bulldogs.
The university released a statement on social media expressing their awareness of the situation and their collaboration with law enforcement to understand the full impact. They urged fans in New Orleans to avoid the affected area and invited them to a mass at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel.
The FBI is investigating the incident, where a driver drove through a crowd on Bourbon Street, resulting in numerous casualties. The suspect was reportedly killed during an exchange of gunfire with police.
