Putting political rivalries on hold, Pennsylvania Senators Dave McCormick (R) and John Fetterman (D) joined forces to cheer on the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. The senators, both Pittsburgh Steelers fans, engaged in a friendly wager with Senator Roger Marshall (R-Kan.), a Kansas City Chiefs supporter. The terms? The losing senator would have to don the winning team's gear and provide local barbecue.
With the Eagles' victory, Senator Marshall now owes Senators McCormick and Fetterman some Kansas City barbecue and a public appearance in Eagles apparel. The wager, initiated by Senator Marshall before the game, sparked playful banter online between the Pennsylvania senators, with both expressing their anticipation of the winnings.

Interestingly, while Senator McCormick collaborated with his Democratic colleague for the Super Bowl, he traveled to the game aboard Air Force One with President Trump, Senator Marshall, and other senators. During the trip, McCormick discussed key issues with the president, including energy policy, combating the fentanyl crisis, and addressing the rising cost of living.

Despite past political sparring, notably Senator Fetterman's "Connecticut Dave" nickname for McCormick during the 2024 campaign, the two senators have shown a willingness to collaborate on matters concerning Pennsylvania. In January, they dined together with their wives to discuss policy issues. Senator Fetterman has also demonstrated a bipartisan approach by meeting with President Trump at Mar-a-Lago and engaging with his cabinet nominees.
