Following the re-dedication of Notre Dame Cathedral, President-elect Donald Trump and Prince William engaged in a private discussion at the British ambassador's residence in Paris. Trump described the conversation to the New York Post as a "great talk" lasting over half an hour.
Trump inquired about the health of Kate Middleton and King Charles. He conveyed that William affirmed Kate's well-being and shared that Charles is "fighting very hard" amidst his health challenges. Trump expressed his admiration for William's devotion to his family, noting the prince's love for both his wife and father.
The President-elect also complimented Prince William's appearance, telling the Post that the prince looked "very handsome." Trump remarked that some individuals appear even better in person, and William was one such person.
Both Trump and Prince William interacted with other dignitaries present at the Notre Dame event, including French President Emmanuel Macron, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and First Lady Jill Biden, who represented the United States. This meeting marks the first encounter between Trump and William since Trump's recent electoral victory, their previous meeting being during a 2019 state visit to the UK. Prince William also met with President Biden in 2022 during his visit to Boston for the Earthshot Prize.
This Paris meeting wasn't the first encounter between Donald Trump and the British Royal Family. In 2019, Trump met with then-Prince Charles, with Clarence House reporting a positive working relationship. Trump recounted a lengthy discussion with Charles about environmental issues, expressing his appreciation for Charles's passion for climate change and ensuring a healthy planet for future generations.
It's also worth noting that King Charles extended his concern to Trump following the assassination attempt earlier this year.
