The MPD confirmed an internal review of their initial response to the incident to ensure adherence to proper procedures. Furthermore, the department's Internal Affairs Bureau is conducting its own investigation into the matter. D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser acknowledged awareness of the report and the internal investigation but declined to comment on the police report itself.

Sarah Raviani, identified in the police report, stated that there was no physical altercation and that the situation was being politicized. She explained that she had contacted law enforcement to address a personal issue while experiencing jet lag, sleep deprivation, and the effects of alcohol. Raviani attributed marks on her arms, which were noted by officers, to pre-existing medical conditions and activities during a recent trip. She expressed regret over the misrepresentation of events and the subsequent invasion of her privacy.
