Southern California Homes Evacuated Due to Massive Illegal Fireworks Discovery

A significant cache of illegal fireworks prompted the evacuation of nearly fifty homes in Southern California on Tuesday. Responding to a complaint about potential illegal fireworks activity on West Evans Street in San Bernardino, police officers uncovered a staggering 5,000 pounds of illicit pyrotechnics. The discovery also included multiple firearms, tools used in fireworks manufacturing, and several kegs of black powder, leading investigators to suspect that the residence was being used for illegal fireworks production.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad was called in to assist with the safe removal of the hazardous materials. Five bomb trailers were deployed, and approximately 48 homes were evacuated as a precaution. A temporary shelter was established at a local high school to accommodate displaced residents. By Tuesday evening, authorities confirmed that residents were permitted to return to their homes. This incident follows a similar situation in Los Angeles in 2021, where a bomb squad truck carrying confiscated illegal fireworks detonated unexpectedly, resulting in injuries and property damage. The potential dangers associated with illegal fireworks continue to be a serious concern for authorities.
