Tiger Woods Returns to Golf in TGL After Mother's Passing

Golf legend Tiger Woods is set to make his return to the sport on Tuesday, participating in the indoor TGL league. He'll be playing alongside his Jupiter Links team against the New York Golf Club.

This comeback follows Woods' withdrawal from the Genesis Invitational, citing the need to process the recent passing of his mother, Kultida, at the age of 78. Woods expressed his unreadiness to compete at the time, despite his preparations and acknowledging his mother's wishes.

The Genesis Invitational honored Kultida with a blank white flag on the par-4 seventh hole, a tribute to her Buddhist faith. White symbolizes enlightenment, knowledge, and purity in Buddhism, and the number seven also holds significance. Kultida's Thai heritage further connects the white color to Buddhism, as Thailand's flag features white stripes representing the religion.

Woods' last tournament appearance was at the British Open in July 2024. This TGL appearance marks his return after undergoing a microdiscectomy in September to address leg pain, his sixth back surgery. His last full four-round tournament was the Masters in 2024, where he achieved a record 24th consecutive cut. Woods has been a part of the TGL league since its inception in January 2025.
