Two Americans Found Dead in Mexico Hotel Room, Gas Inhalation Suspected

Two American tourists were discovered deceased in their hotel room in El Pescadero, Baja California Sur, Mexico. Authorities suspect gas inhalation as the cause of death.

On Tuesday, police responded to a report of two unconscious individuals in a room at Rancho Pescadero, a Hyatt property. Paramedics pronounced them dead at the scene. The hotel's general manager, Henar Gil, expressed condolences and confirmed that there was no evidence of violence and no known threat to guest safety. The hotel is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

While U.S. officials declined to comment due to privacy concerns, local authorities indicated the deceased were a man and a woman, and that they had likely been dead for 10-11 hours before being found. The specific type of gas involved is still under investigation.

This incident follows a similar tragedy last October where three American tourists died in a Mexico City Airbnb, likely from carbon monoxide poisoning. In that case, the victims were found after a concerned boyfriend, unable to reach his girlfriend, contacted the Airbnb host to request a welfare check.
