Following the unexpected cancellation of Meghan Markle's podcast "Archetypes" after a single season, questions arose regarding her suitability for audio content creation. United Talent Agency CEO Jeremy Zimmer commented on Markle's talent during an interview at the 2023 Cannes Lions advertising festival, suggesting that fame doesn't automatically translate into skill.

Zimmer's remarks followed Spotify's decision to terminate its multi-million dollar contract with Markle and Prince Harry. While "Archetypes" initially enjoyed significant success, topping charts in multiple countries and winning a People's Choice Award, it wasn't enough to secure a second season. The podcast featured interviews with prominent figures such as Serena Williams, Mariah Carey, and Paris Hilton.

Markle, who gained recognition for her role in the television series "Suits," recently signed with William Morris Endeavor (WME). This move comes after the joint statement from Spotify and Archewell Audio, the couple's production company, confirming their mutual decision to part ways. Although Archewell Audio reportedly did not receive the full payout of their initial deal due to insufficient content production, Markle's representatives have indicated her intention to continue developing content for the "Archetypes" audience on a different platform.

Adding to the controversy surrounding the podcast's cancellation, Spotify executive Bill Simmons publicly referred to Markle and Prince Harry as "grifters," hinting at potential issues during the collaboration. He also mentioned a Zoom meeting with Prince Harry to discuss podcast ideas.
