Virginia's Lieutenant Governor, Winsome Earle-Sears, responded to Democratic strategist James Carville's confident assertion that she will lose the upcoming gubernatorial race. During a recent appearance on "Fox & Friends," Earle-Sears playfully questioned Carville's predictive abilities, referencing his inaccurate forecasts about the 2024 presidential election. "James, my man, do you have some lottery numbers for me? Because you seem so certain," she joked, adding, "Except, you weren’t certain before with Biden and look where that got you."

Carville's prediction, made on "Hannity," stated that Democrats were certain to win the Virginia governor's race. This comes as recent polls show Earle-Sears trailing her Democratic opponent, Rep. Abigail Spanberger. A late January Mason-Dixon poll revealed a tight race with Earle-Sears slightly behind, while a January VCU poll showed a larger gap. However, Earle-Sears cited polls indicating a closer contest, describing it as "neck and neck" and suggesting that Spanberger is concerned about voters choosing Earle-Sears to continue the policies of the Youngkin administration. She emphasized her focus on job creation, parental involvement in education, and public safety.

Earle-Sears' challenge to Carville's prediction stems from his previous misjudgment of the 2024 presidential race. While Carville had confidently predicted Kamala Harris's victory, she ultimately lost to Donald Trump. Carville later acknowledged his error in a New York Times op-ed, attributing the loss to economic factors. During his "Hannity" appearance, Carville also predicted that Democrats would retake the House in 2026 and that Trump's support would decline. Trump responded to Carville's comments on Truth Social, claiming victory in the presidential election and boasting about his current polling numbers.
