Adelaide Toddler's Death Ruled a Homicide: Babysitter Arrested and Charged

Authorities in South Australia have apprehended and charged a 30-year-old man from Glenelg North with the murder of a 17-month-old boy he was babysitting. The toddler, Ronan Davies, tragically passed away on June 9th, two days after being admitted to the Women's and Children's Hospital in Adelaide in critical condition.

According to police reports, Ronan suffered severe head trauma and other internal injuries on the afternoon of June 7th while in the care of the accused. The babysitter subsequently returned Ronan to his father, who immediately noticed the child's unresponsive state and contacted emergency services.

Following an extensive investigation, law enforcement declared Ronan’s death a homicide on June 27th. Detective Inspector McEachern revealed that Ronan had been under the care of family friends at a Glenelg North residence in the days leading up to the incident.

The suspect was taken into custody on July 4th and appeared before the Adelaide Magistrates Court the following day. He has been denied bail. The investigation remains active, and police urge anyone with relevant information to contact Crime Stoppers.
