The bipartisan group commended Bondi's collaborative work across party and state lines during her tenure as Florida's attorney general and her 18-year service as a state prosecutor in Hillsborough County. They expressed confidence in her suitability for the position, stating, "Many of us have worked directly with Attorney General Bondi and can attest to her qualifications. Her significant prosecutorial experience and dedication to public service make her an exceptionally qualified nominee."
The letter also highlighted Bondi's steadfast commitment to public safety and upholding the law during her time in Florida. Her efforts focused on tackling violent crime, consumer protection, and combating the opioid crisis, a significant issue during her election as attorney general in 2010. This endorsement follows a similar letter from over one hundred former Justice Department officials urging Bondi's confirmation. While she is expected to be confirmed by the Republican-controlled Senate, her nomination faces some opposition. Senator Dick Durbin, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, voiced concerns about Bondi's impartiality, particularly regarding her defense of President-elect Donald Trump during impeachment proceedings and after the 2020 election.
