Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey's assault charge from April has been dropped after he successfully completed a pretrial diversion program, according to Harris County Court records. The case's dismissal comes shortly after an incident where Winfrey and teammate Greg Newsome II were robbed at gunpoint outside a Cleveland nightclub. While the players were unharmed, the suspects escaped with jewelry and Newsome's vehicle. Police are actively investigating the robbery.

The original assault charge stemmed from allegations that Winfrey physically harmed a woman he was dating, causing "bodily injury." Following his arrest and release on bond, he was prohibited from contacting the accuser. Winfrey, a fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has faced disciplinary action from the Browns at least twice last season for behavioral issues. He participated in 13 games, making 22 tackles.

Last week, Winfrey remained at the team's facility for two days while the Browns conducted outdoor minicamp practices. Coach Kevin Stefanski declined to comment on whether Winfrey was facing disciplinary measures. He returned to practice with his teammates on the third day.
